A world-class convention and exhibition centre which includes 6 exhibition halls, 2,500 seat theatre/auditorium, a pool and gymnasium, function & ballrooms, a hotel and 11,000 sqm office building and a 1,500 bay carpark located in Perth, Western Australia.
Key construction challenges included the fact that documentation and construction commenced simultaneously combined with the obstacle of creating a construction site on the Swan River foreshore adjacent to a CBD.
As State Contract Manager’s Representative, Peter Coney led a team responsible for overseeing the design development process, to ensure the developer incorporated the features required under the brief and offered under the proposal. During the construction phase of the project, the Project Management team ensured that the facilities built were “fit for purpose” and of a quality such to allow the end-user to commence attracting and retaining convention & exhibition business. The procurement model was one of the first to use the PPP (Public Private Partnership) in Western Australia at the time.
