Andrew Woodrow
Director - Victoria, Australia
For Andrew Woodrow, Pure’s point of difference comes down to this:
“We make the building work”.
Of course there are a lot of project managers who say that, but few who truly do. Project managers come from a variety of backgrounds, not all as well credentialed as others.
At Pure, project managers have a thorough design and engineering skill base, and particularly in the Melbourne office, an expertise for highly technical projects. As Andrew says, when you have civil engineers, structural engineers, electrical engineers, architects and others all wanting information, you need someone who not only understand their job, but understand what they need to do with regards to the project at hand.
Pure brings that. As Andrew says, project management isn’t just about transferring information, it’s having the skill, knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions that move the job forward.
With over 25 years in the consulting and construction industry in Europe and Australia, in all aspects of development and construction, he’s well placed to comment.
“A lot of consultants are comfortable with us because we can actually answer questions.”
Andrew has particular experience with extremely complex, multi-faceted projects such as hospitals where there are a lot of client drivers that include budget, time frame, government legislation, working during ongoing operation (and literally, during operations) and many more factors.
He loves being out on site and the banter that comes from working in a close-knit team. The Pure work ethic includes humour and enjoying the job. That might mean sharing a joke with the site electrician, or the CEO of a 100 million dollar company.
A bit of a history buff, (his favourite movie is Saving Private Ryan) Andrew sees engineering as an art form. It’s building something that people can use and appreciate for 50, even 100 years.
'I love it when you can drive down a street and see a building and say ‘I was a part of that’.
